On 26 August 2026, regions in north-western Nepal were flooded by enormous masses of water. According to the government and authorities, Nuwakot and Rasuwa are among the worst-affected districts. For Nuwakot alone, 1,267 completely destroyed and 1,253 partially damaged houses were initially recorded. The need for temporary shelter is correspondingly high.
Second relief operation on 13 September
These are the photos of the second relief operation on 13 September, in which around 65 families were provided with blankets, pillows and cooking equipment. The tents were provided by China. The site where the tents were put up has been approved for this temporary accommodation for one year. Our colleague Anup from WhiteHimalaya had a large banner made for the operation and attached it to a tent, so that the people affected could see where the relief post was. Once again a 4x4 jeep was hired, which took Anup, our colleague Bhakta from the HealthPost Satrasaya and the relief supplies to Nuwakot; there the tents were put up and the relief supplies handed over. Most of the families were only flown in by helicopter from an inaccessible region shortly afterwards, which is why only a few people can be seen in the photos. In agreement with other aid organisations, they are taking care of the toilets and some gravel that is still to be laid under the tents.
