Nepalese government changes deadline for declaration of death
The Nepalese government has decided to shorten the waiting period for the court declaration of death of people who are considered missing after disasters from 12 years to 45 days. The decision was taken by the cabinet on Wednesday and announced by government spokesperson and education minister Sasmita Pokhrel. The cabinet also recommended three ordinances amending laws in the areas of agriculture, forestry and disaster management. The new rule is intended to make it easier for families to settle legal and administrative matters when people remain missing after disasters. A good decision.
